PRODUCTS

Poster paper
This paper has an opaque base coat, which is wood-free and has wet strength. The reverse is yellowish or blue and does not allow images underneath (e.g. on advertising pillars) to shine through.

Durability of stickers
Limited weather resistance means that the stickers can be used outside to a limited degree. The durability of the print and the material depends on the weather, i.e. the print and the material are durable depending on the substrate and the weather.

Bindings
In the case of magazines, we use saddle stitching (as you know it from common magazines).

Print colours/special colours
Printing using HKS special colours is possible on our letterheads.

Colour deviations
In spite of the most modern printing machines, there may be slight colour deviations. The print result is dependent on very many factors, including the character of the paper of individual manufacturers, e.g. the degree of whiteness, the grain direction and/or whether it is gloss or matt; climatic conditions at the printing site, such as temperature and air humidity. Should colour deviations within the tolerance range arise for reasons of this sort, then due to the way our system works - the fullest use to capacity of our formes and machines - this will not constitute a reason for complaint.

Coloured paper (printing)
We do not provide printing on coloured paper. However, should you want a coloured background, it is possible to create this as a colour in the file.

Indoorpaper
This is poster paper which is printed using an oil-based ink. The print has a limited resistance to UV light and limited weather resistance.

The grain of the paper
For technical production reasons, we unfortunately cannot take into consideration the grain of the paper when placing your order. We therefore cannot always rule out the possibility, under certain circumstances, of slight opening when sheets are folded. Opening can be prevented by scoring papers weighing over 170g/qm.

Scoring and grooving
This is the impression of a linear indentation in paper, cardboard or board using scoring lines or scoring rollers. The material is just displaced and compressed. Scoring prevents the material splitting or breaking when doubled or folded. Please be aware: the grain of the paper cannot be taken into consideration when producing folded goods.

Maximum paper formats
We offer posters at DIN A 0 at paper weights of 100g, 135g (gloss) and 115g on Poster paper and plots on DIN A 0 at paper weights of 115g (Poster paper) and 175g (Outdoor).

Plot
These are recommended for small numbers of items up to approx. 25 pieces. We offer Plots on Poster– and Indoorpaper.

Maximum number of pages (magazines)
Magazines with saddle stitching are printed with a maximum number of 64 pages (including cover).

Punching
We print round and oval flyers and stickers. These are punched.

Foil coating
We offer single sided foil laminating for postcards and double sided foil laminating for business cards.

Parallel fold/Special parallel fold
Special parallel fold is when the product is folded once in the middle. It is then processed again in a Special parallel fold. We can provide a z-fold of up to 8 pages; over 10 pages, leaflets are processed using a Special parallel fold.

DATA

Bleed
Please create a 1 mm Bleed (3mm in the case of posters) on each side in addition to the trimmed size. Important information (such as e-mail adresses, telephone number etc.) should be placed with a spacing of at least 3mm from the edge (5mm in the case of posters and 7mm in the case of magazines).

Labelling data
JPG oder auch JPEG is a file format for compressed pixel images. The JPG format compresses image files so that they can be used on the Internet or for fast exchange of data. PDF - the Portable-Document-Format is a cross-platform file format for printable documents, which was developed by the company Adobe Systems. TIFF (Tagged-Image-File-Format) is a file format for saving image data. Together with Encapsulated Postscript, it is the most important format for the exchange of data in the pre-press phase. EPS - an Encapsulated-Postscript file, is a graphic file in the PostScript page description language, which meets the particular requirements needed to allow binding of a document.

Data transmission
For e-mail, send your files, stating the order number (you will receive this in your order confirmation by e-mail) to: info@theprintpit.co.uk. For upload, you can upload your print data directly.

Layers
Before delivering your data, please delete all channels apart from CMYK and then reduce all layers to one common layer.

Colour mode
Please always supply your print data in CMYK mode. Colours created in RGB mode are generally never the same as colours created in CMYK mode. Colour saturation should not exceed 300 % in total, otherwise this will result in faulty print products.

Please be aware that a colour on your screen or on your printout from an ink-jet printer will look slightly different to the finished print product. A computer screen shows colours using the RGB –System; an offset printer uses CMYK. Both colour systems are very sophisticated but not every conceivable colour is shown exactly the same in both systems. This is why your data should be created in CMYK mode in image processing programs in order to be suitable for printing.

Magazines
For all magazines with saddle stitching: e.g. DIN A4 12 pages. We need to receive 6 DIN A3 files, i.e. the data must always be created as double pages.

Printable Files
We can print the following file types:

  • Jpeg
  • Tiff
  • PDF
  • Microsoft Word *
  • Microsoft Publisher *
  • Quark Express *
  • Adobe Photoshop *
  • Adobe In Design *

    * In these cases you will receive a digital proof of your order in PDF format. Your order will not go to print until you confirm that the digital proofs are correct.
